Because the History classroom I use for my 8th grade classes could not accommodate the space and movement needed for this project, I utilized the lunch tables outside.
With this group activity the class is divided into 9 groups of 2-3. Each group will have 2-3 minutes per station. We will rotate stations throughout the 45 minute period. Constant movement will minimize talking during transition since they will have to get right to work to finish on time.
Each group will start at a different station. All the stations are meant to compliment each other. If one group does not understand one station at first, by the time they go through a second time they will have gathered the relevant information to help them complete the task.

The average score on this initial team based activity was 89.58%. An immediate increase of 5% from the previous average score of 84.3% on formative assessments.
In light of the positive impact this had on language comprehension I decided to proceed to Phase 2.
